Boulanger, Karine

Born in Beirut in 1963, to a French father and a Bolivian mother. She studied painting in Bolivia with Gonzalo Rodriguez, then at the Ecole Nationanale des Beaux Arts in Paris with Leonardo Cremonini.

Taking inspiration from her Latin American roots, Karine often creates images from her imagination which reflect memories from her imagination which reflect memories from her cultural heritage. Her classical training is reflected in the glowing gold and silver backgrounds of her current works. It resembles the use of gold by the Byzantines, a presence of something more spiritual, a symbol of light like inner freedom. She currently lives and works in Paris.
