Castilho, Isabel (B. 1957)

A native of Brazil, who also calls Spain home, has spent many years abroad and now resides in Qatar. Through her travels, Isabel’s paintings acquired new sensations and realities. Filled with color and rich and expressive cultures, Castilho’s paintings are much about her journeys that absorb new sensations, projecting them through many different forms and colors. Her work features the omnipresence of nature. One of her well-known techniques is the “double background”. This technique is quite deceptive, since there are no set limits between the elements of light, background and depth. Her work is currently exhibited as part of the Permanent Collection of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
